“Art Therapy” – A Specialized Workshop at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences, Beni-Suef University

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, the Talent Department at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences organized a specialized training workshop on art therapy, as part of the university’s support for scientific and skill-based activities that contribute to developing students’ abilities, and in conjunction with the celebration of the World Talent Day.

The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Heba Abu El-Nil, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Haitham Nagi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mahmoud El-Shahawi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Dr. Nahed Makary, Head of the Department. The workshop was delivered by director Mohamed Hassanein, a master’s researcher at the Faculty.

Dr. Tarek Ali stressed that the university places great importance on supporting talented students and nurturing their creative skills, noting that art therapy workshops represent one of the modern methods that enhance psychological well-being and foster innovation. He added that the university continues to provide comprehensive academic and skill-based support that opens new horizons for students and enables them to express their abilities in creative ways that align with contemporary needs.

The workshop saw strong participation from students of the department and covered practical applications of art therapy as an effective tool for helping talented individuals express emotions, develop imagination, and enhance the quality of psychological and social interaction. Students also engaged in interactive artistic activities that highlighted the role of art in developing creative thinking and strengthening psychological resilience.

The workshop concluded on a positive note, underscoring the importance of integrating art-therapy strategies into talent-development settings, and opening doors to innovative approaches that support the department’s students and elevate their skills.
