The Faculty of Nursing at Beni Suef University organized a celebration for World Mental Health Day under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University. The event was held under the theme *“Mental Health in Psychological Emergencies”*, coinciding with the Scientific Day of the Department of Psychiatric Nursing. It took place under the supervision of Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hanan El-Zablawy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Sherine El-Sayed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Nagwa Sweilam, Head of the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, in the presence of several faculty members and students.

Dr. Tarek Ali noted that World Mental Health Day, celebrated every October under the theme *“Mental Health in Psychological Emergencies”*, is a global occasion aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues and promoting understanding and support for individuals suffering from mental disorders. He pointed out that the day was first launched in 1992 as an initiative by the **World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH)** and has since become an annual opportunity to highlight the importance of mental health as an integral part of overall well-being.

The University President added that the activities of this day focus on raising awareness, combating the social stigma surrounding mental illness, and encouraging individuals to seek help and treatment without fear or hesitation. He emphasized that health organizations and governments are working to develop mental health services and improve accessibility, especially in communities lacking psychological support. He further explained that the theme of World Mental Health Day changes annually to reflect emerging challenges and priorities in mental health, such as supporting youth, promoting psychologically healthy workplaces, and ensuring equality in access to mental healthcare.

Dr. Hanan El-Zablawy delivered a message to all attendees, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to promote mental health in society. She stressed the importance of education and awareness in changing negative perceptions of mental illness and reaffirmed the faculty’s role in providing psychological and educational support to students and the local community through workshops and lectures that contribute to a deeper understanding of mental health issues.
